Mysterious mountain man,
Blue of throat
You swallow the world’s poison
To spare it from being smote.
That serpent around your neck
Both menacing and fierce
It seems to faze you not
A true master of fears.
What of that silent Bull
Who sits idle and dumb
Lewd lust and longing
You have kept under your thumb.
Neither the bitter cold of Kailash
Impossible to bear
Nor the raging force of Ganga
Could drive you into despair.
And when despair did arrive
When fair Sati was slain
Neither did you crumble
Nor shed tears in vain.
Change may be inevitable
Like the phases of the moon
Yet you remain a constant
Stillness of the untouched lagoon.
For when the world sees not
Insight is your gift
It pierces through illusion
Cuts through deceit and grift.
You are Shiva
Mahadeva, Neelkhanth, Rudra
And only the strong of heart
Will be forged in your Fire.
